Teacher On Ice.. on Ice Mat 100

"I was one of a team of four teachers chosen to take part in the first Fuchs Foundation Antarctic expedition in the Austral summer of 2007/8. The prospect of sleeping on the ice for over a month caused us all to put a lot of thought into what we should take to put under our down bags. During my researches, I discovered the awesome Icemats."

High Pass out of Connell Canyon "Since bulk was not a great problem (as long as it could fit in a pulk) I chose the multimat Icemat 100. Considering the impressive scale of the mat when inflated, it was remarkably easy to roll and stow whenever we had to move on. I became a source of extreme jealousy during the course of the expedition enjoying comfortable sleep that would be hard to imagine in such a harsh environment. It is still my first choice in any situation apart from backpacking. What a masterpiece!"
