Shackleton Centenary Expedition
1st December 2008 by Multimat
Following intensive ice training in Norway, Baffin Island, Greenland, Scotland & Austria, with fitness programme assistance from the OMI (Olympic Medical Institute, London) the team followed the same route to Pole as Shackleton's Nimrod Expedition of 1908-9.
They flew from Punto Arenas, Chile; having refueled at Patriot Hills base, and were dropped on Ross Island, at the edge of the Ross Ice Shelf.
As befits a modern expedition, the trip was entirely carbon neutral, with all CO2 emissions offset.
Multimat are pleased to announce that the team selected our Expedition Sleep System for this challenge, which comprises of the original foam Summit XL mat and Summit 25/38 self inflating mattress.
Everyone at Multimat offers the team its congratulations on a safe and successful trip.
